Whether working towards a high-school diploma, GED, career development, further education, or volunteering, every resident is an active participant in their own success. Through our outreach we touch many more lives. Grandma’s House emphasizes wellness and healthy development of children, families and communities through education, and promotes family support and involvement. Our program is designed to build on the strengths of the participants. Partners and family members are welcome to be involved. Our goal is to help strengthen the family unit, which helps support the teen parent and child for the long run. It is widely recognized that prenatal health care significantly reduces the number of low birth weight and other medical complications, which are typical to the pregnant teen and can be a costly burden on the medical system. Further, without supportive counseling and education, teen mothers and their children are often destined to repeat the cycle of poverty, neglect, and/or abuse. The goal of Grandma's House is to help each young woman become self-sufficient and able to make responsible decisions for herself and her child. Grandma's House Mission Statement: Grandma’s House is a non-profit, faith-based home and outreach that provides safe shelter to homeless and/or abused pregnant, parenting and adopting girls between the ages of 12 and 19.

Grandma's
House of Central Oregon, is a faith based, non-denominational, non-profit
home, and outreach ministry, providing safe, nurturing, and stable shelter
to homeless and/or abused pregnant, (whether choosing adoption or parenting)
and parenting teens mothers between the ages of 12 to 19 years old and
their babies. We are presently the only facilities East of the Cascades
meeting the needs of this high- risk population. Grandma's House is
not state or federally funded. We are proud to be a United Way Agency,
but without the support & dedication of people in our community
we could not exist.
Grandma's
House is more than a safe haven, it is a teaching home. We provide educational
programs such as childbirth education, parenting, self esteem, career
development and life-skills that are open to, and utilized by, all pregnant,
(whether choosing adoption or parenting) and parenting teens in the
tri-County area. We have comprehensive prenatal, and post-natal health
care services specific to pregnant and parenting teens provided by a
nurse from Deschutes County Maternal Health with a Mental Health professional
available for one-on-one or in-house counseling. We have options counseling
with adoption counseling referrals as requested. Our curriculum is designed
to promote self-sufficiency and individual responsibility, while encouraging
the pursuit of healthy, positive lifestyles. Our material is presented
at the appropriate age levels and are available to all pregnant or parenting
teens at no cost.
